basic: generate a random map based on minimal configurable input
advanced: ui for tweaking configuration options + generate map
expert: advanced ui for manually adjusting all details of the map
user can start with basic and upgrade to advanced or expert, or start at any level
The interface should have "tools" like brush, line, pan+zoom down the left hand side and "asset library" down the right hand side
The world builder is an engine that takes the map and generates an expansive, immersive 3D environment that a character can enter and explore
The world builder has an "environmnet editor" where I can walk/fly around in first person view and make smaller changes as I go
This is 3D environment. There is a workbench in the middle of the room and pods lining the walls. Inside the pods are golems of the different "character types" (dwarfish, manish, elvish, etc..).
I can take a golem from a pod and lay it on the bench to sculpt and texture it.
Emanating from the bench is a small glowing portal, if I touch it, it opens a book: I can flip through the pages. Sections in the book contain directives for setting certain attributes on my golem: Strength, Will, etc ...
Exactly like the character maker, except the options for attributes that can be assigned to the creature are specific to NPC characters, creatures and monsters
Trees, rocks, walls, roads, textures,
can be accessed from the World Builder so that I can "pull" assets into the world
